We just casually went to the beach for a few hours before attending a concert in Provincetown, and it was an amazing surprise to see many, many seals along the sandbar and swimming beside the beach! More and more gradually hauled themselves up onto the sandbar over the hour or so we watched them, until they were in the huge numbers you can see in the video at the bottom of this post. The beach was “Head of the Meadow,” part of the Cape Cod National Seashore. I also saw my first Roseate Terns (many of which were banded for research purposes, so I’m trying to find out whether my photos will be of any use).
